Self-made carbonated water kit completed (cost about 4,000 yen)

I got a regulator and a carbon dioxide gas cylinder, so a self-made carbonated water kit was completed.

The cost was a little 4,000 yen.
The configuration is as follows.

There were various sites I gave reference to, but the following page (Japanese) was the most helpful.
Thank you very much.

I think the kit I made is the cheapest.
The expensive parts are the regulator (pressure reducing valve) and the air coupler.
Regulators are expensive when buying new ones, so many people used auctions and so on. Because it is an auction, it is basically a second-hand product, and the price is not stable and some people bought it for 2,000 yen and some people bought it for 5,000 yen.

So, the way I selected was to buy a new regulator from ebay.

It is about 3,000 yen for a new item.
This requires some degree of expertise. I am lucky enough to be detailed.
As the point of connection is W22-14 in Japan, select it. Also, understand that W22 and W21.8 can be connected. Since the primary pressure of the regulator can be displayed up to 15 MPa and the purpose is to make carbonated water, the secondary pressure can be adjusted from 0.3 to 0.5 MPa, and the lower limit value is preferably 0.2 MPa and the upper limit is about 0.5 MPa. If you know the units of Pa, bar and psi, you will not choose the wrong regulator.

Actually there was something a bit cheaper, but the regulator I bought this time seems to have a valve at the outlet. The other one is around 2000 yen because there is no valve. The valve is easier when you have carbonated water.

If you buy a 2000 yen regulator and buy a 300 yen valve, it will be cheaper by about 700 yen.

The valve was about 300 yen for two in ebay, and about 500 yen for one Amazon in Japan. Unfortunately, I could not find a site that can be purchased for 3000 yen in Japan.

All air couplers that connect hoses and plastic bottles are chosen to be expensive.
Two parts are purchased by connection with a hose and connection with a plastic bottle lid, and it costs about 2000 yen in total. The connection with the plastic bottle has a check valve, so it may be convenient if you want to make carbonated water and store it in the refrigerator as it is, but personally carbonated water can be made in about 1 minute, so there is no need for preservation Wonder? Even if there is no cold water, add ice and stir a little and it will cool. If you want to save, I think that you should prepare a separate lid and close tightly. Since the coupler is self-made, I think it would be easier for carbon dioxide to escape if it is not made properly, so it is better to prepare a separate lid that has not been processed for storage, and then tighten it tightly and store it in the refrigerator.

Everyone is buying these.

What I purchased was a straight union of around 300 yen at the home improvement center. Drill a 5 mm hole in the center of the plastic bottle lid and connect it with a stainless M5 nut (10 yen per piece).

It seems that it is possible to purchase one for ¥ 90 at Amazon.

Since there is no check valve, it is better to have a valve upstream.

Those who want to imitate and put together the necessary materials on another page, so please refer to that ↓.

Important point

This is dangerous in the set I made this time.

As pressure is applied at 0.3MPa, if it blows, I think it will pop like a bullet. The air pressure of the car is 0.2 ~ 0.3MPa. A 2t car would support a weight of 500kg. And it supports the car even at 100km / h or more. We have to be very careful about the preparation here.

My Tesla Model S slightly exceeds 2t and has tremendous acceleration. It is supported at 0.3 MPa (3 bar).

As a precaution, for example, it is better to wrap around with gum tape after making it. If it still blows, it may not be about gum tape.

Bottle specs

I think a plastic bottle for carbonated water is essential.
By intuition, I thought that I had to use a plastic bottle for absolutely carbonated water.
It’s an outrageous pressure. It is pressure enough to support a 500 kg object that moves at high speed as described above.

How long can it be used? However, it was written that there is no problem in using the other sites mentioned above for one year.
Personally, I think that I will replace it after purchasing a new plastic bottle after using it about 10 times.
It is not expensive, and I think it is a kind of running cost.
