After creating what you want to make with CAD, etc., it is finally the output.
To do so, you need to prepare software called a slicer.
Normally, when you write texts or draw pictures on a PC and print out on paper, you can print out the printing instruction from the created software, but in the case of 3D printer, usually use special software for output Issue a print command to the 3D printer.
Print out texts and pictures directly
In the case of 3D printer output, stages increase just a little extra effort
3D CAD has been widely used since the days when 3D printers were not so popular.
The reason whya little extra effort is that 3D CAD software does not have the function to output 3D printer that came out later. However, recently some 3D CAD software has a 3D printer output function.
Fusion 360 has that feature. However, strictly speaking, it is better to express that they are linked.
Slicer software is included with 3D printers, and free software is also available. Usually, if you are a CR-10S or small 3D printer user as introduced before, download free software from the internet and use it.
Personally, I think free software is enough because free software is good.
If the file format that the free software can output is compatible with expensive 3D printers, you can output without using the included slicer software.
In free software we can change the settings in detail and rewrite the code.
In this page I introduce Cura and Repetier-host as free slicer software.
It is these two software that I used at the beginning.
In particular, these two are not necessarily good.
There are a lot of free slicer software, so it is good to choose the software that suits you.
I use two software because I have two 3D printers.
You can switch the output destination at the time of output.
However, I use two slicer software because it is troublesome.

Select the purpose. If you choose something other than I don’t want to share nay information, you will need to fill out the questionnaire later.
If it is bothersome, choose I don’t … . There is no problem in choosing it.
The downloaded file is an installer, so please click and install one after another.
Click on agree and select the printer you want to use.
The good point of Cura is to choose CR-10S first.
Select the printer you want to use and the model size will be set automatically.
Select Japanese from Configure if you want the language to be Japanese.
Close the software once and open it again.

Those who want to donate choose a currency and proceed. If you want to use it for free, click Download without donation at the bottom left.
Select the OS you are using.
After downloading, please double-click on the installer to install it.
Every time, a confirmation window for installation will be displayed, but it is no problem to just click OK.
Once installation is complete, Repetier-Host will be launched and will be available if you accept the privacy policy.
Perhaps, by default, the model is automatically included as follows. This is no problem to ignore.
Unlike Cura, Repetier-Host can not select a printer name, so first enter the printer’s model size.
Enter the model size from the Printer Settings tab in the Printer Shape tab. Specifically, enter X Max, Y Max, Printer Area Width, Depth and Height. As CR-10S is 300 x 300 x 400 mm, it was set as follows.
Once set, you can see from the screen that the modeling area has changed.
The initial setting is now complete.
You can print now.
Similar to printing on paper, the 3D printer can also make detailed settings for output, so next time I will explain the details of the input items of each slicer software.
